Betsy and I would like to thank you for your services in the remodeling/renovation of our home. In review of the scope of the job, I think you would agree that it took on a “life of its own.” Betsy and I made a variety of changes along the way, which added to the cost and time of the work. The end result was a home that we are not only proud of to own and live in, but as well to show off Nix Construction’s skills and talents in making our ideas become a reality.

We had very detailed plans from our architect from which to work, and had shared them with four builders. You were the only one that was realistic in presenting to us what you felt was an appropriate timeframe for construction, as well as the process that we would need to go through to accomplish our desires. Everyone else just indicated that our job was nothing more or less than other jobs that they had done. Luckily, we knew better, followed our instincts, and went with the person that we could count on and trust to do the right thing for us.

Betsy and I knew from the first scheduled day that the job was to begin that we had made the right choice in builders. You started on schedule, and kept us abreast of your work, so that our expectations were well managed. We were brought in to make decisions on needs or changes in a timely fashion. All of the subs on the job were professional, courteous, respectful, and friendly. You were accessible, informative, and communicative in regards to progress or issues that needed to be addressed.

We have heard many people exclaim after new construction or remodeling, “I’ll never do that again!” Betsy and I feel otherwise. We have learned a lot from the endeavor, and if we have another opportunity, we hope to use Nix Construction again. We thank you for an experience that could have turned out very differently than the excellent one that we had!

Bob and I wanted to take the time to write and express how pleased we are with our new home. After living here for over six months, we are amazed every day at the fabulous work you and your subs provided. Everywhere we look the attention to detail is evident.

When we lost our home to fire in 2001, we were devastated. The whole process of choosing an architect and builder was a new one for us, since all we had done on Hilton Head was remodel houses. Thank you for making our building process so easy and enjoyable.

People are all too quick to share “horror stories” about building on Hilton Head. From the Town of Hilton Head, to the plantation ASC boards, to unscrupulous builders, the stories abound. This letter is long overdue. Actually it was started several months ago, but we got sidetracked. Maybe it will mean more now because we still love our house. It just seems to get better and better.

When we bought this lot we told ourselves it was just an investment. Building a house was not something we had always wanted to do–having not heard anything good about the process. Horrible stories about delays, overruns, poor workmanship, and all kinds of mistakes in general. After a few visits to the lot, the view got to us and we knew we would have to bite the bullet and build.

Since you had done a small remodel for us and it had turned out well, and not having any idea where to start, we called you for advice. That was the beginning of the experience of a lifetime. You helped us with every step, and made building a house a joy and not a chore.

Allen and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole process. Larry Tuten was a delight to work with, and you will not believe all the compliments I get on my kitchen. Everyone raves about my beautiful cabinets. No one could help but like Jeff Reynolds, our electrician, and he did a good job too. We have even had him come back and do some outside lighting for us. I could go on and on. We really couldn’t be happier with the way the work was done and the people who did it.

We have ended up with a beautiful home that we know is well built, that was finished when you originally told us it would be, that only had a 3% overrun (not 30), and everything works and we love it.

You did good, Joe. We couldn’t be more pleased with our new home and, as I said before, we love it more every day. Also, we would not hesitate to build another home as long as you are the contractor.

Elaine and I want to express our pleasure and thanks for the great job you did helping us with the construction of our new home at 13 Indian Hill Lane. Your professionalism and attention to detail, as well as your selection of outstanding subcontractors, made the project exceed our expectations. As professionals in the design and construction business, doing a project for our own account was difficult. In our nearly 30 years of practice here on Hilton Head, we have to place you at the top of our list of favorite contractors.

Our only complaint is one of budgeting, and that problem was solely of our own doing. We have to admit that the final costs were not greatly different than your original estimates. It has been a pleasure doing business with you and we look forward to collaborating on other projects.

We bought our Sea Pines lot about ten years ago with the idea that someday we’d build a “dream” retirement home. Your expertise in the home building industry and attention to detail made our home construction a rewarding, pleasant experience. This attention to detail and quality workmanship extended to your subcontractors who were all polite and knowledgeable of their craft. Additionally, when our annual warranty inspection was due, you personally came to the walkthrough and provided crews to correct any minor problems in a timely manner.

We’ve enjoyed living in our home for a year now and still continue to receive numerous compliments from neighbors, visiting family and friends, and even strangers walking by. We would unequivocally recommend you to anyone who wants to build a quality home and would use you again for home construction.
